Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation | First Impression

Recently a co-worker of mine kept mentioning that she wanted to find a good full coverage foundation that would last her all day while at work. I had always heard good things about Kat Von D’s beauty line and so many people have raved about her foundation. I personally never tried it because I was too afraid that it would be too full coverage for me. When I recommended this foundation to my co-worker and chose the color for her, she came in the next day with it on and her face looked amazing. It didn’t look too cakey or powdery, the color matched perfect, everything just looked flawless on her!

After seeing how amazing the foundation looked on her, I had to try it myself. Watch my First Impression video below to see how it applied and what it looked like before and after the application.

Price: $35

Where Can I Purchase? Katvondbeauty.com, Sephora.com (& store locations)

Kat Von D Claims: “One little pump is all it takes to even out discoloration, stop shine and hide blemishes! The coverage is AMAZING, whether you apply with a brush or a sponge. And it’s so long-wear, we can go a full 24 hours without touching up or re-applying (Kat herself has put this to the test)…Formulated with 21% pigment, our powerful potion is loaded with proprietary pigments plus an exclusive blend of siliconic elastomers and siliconic esters which bind the formula, so your foundation stays fade-free and transfer- proof…The bottle features an innovative airless chamber design that prevents contamination and maintains Lock-It’s rich consistency. That means you get a fresh, precisely measured dose with every pump!” -Katvondbeauty.com

Packaging: To be honest, when I first saw the packaging on this foundation I wasn’t impressed. I am not a huge tattoo person so the packaging to me was neither here nor there. After I purchased the foundation I realized how useful the packaging really is! According to the website, the design prevents contamination and maintains the foundation’s consistency. Also, when you pump (which of course is a plus too) it is supposed to dispense the perfect amount of foundation needed to complete a full coverage application.

Consistency: This foundation has a creamy feel to it. It is definitely a bit on the heavier side of consistencies compared to most of my other foundations. I did notice that when applied it blended out easily but also dried quickly so it is a product that you have to work fast with. I also thought that using a beauty blender or a damp sponge helped with the thickness of the foundation when it came to blending and dispersing it throughout the face.

Finish: The finish of this foundation was matte. I still set it with a tiny bit of powder just because that’s what I always do with all my foundations but I did notice it looked a little heavy afterwards, so I used a setting spray to sort of help the product settle into my face and not look so matte/powdery.

Overall: I loved that this foundation does exactly what is says it does. It is full coverage and when I say full coverage, I mean it. It covers literally everything. It also lasts extremely long. Hours later, it looks like you just applied your makeup, which is amazing. I do think that the foundation itself felt heavy on my skin at first but throughout time I think the natural oils in my skin helped with breaking down the thickness of the foundation. I believe this is one of those foundations that actually look better with time as it settles perfectly into the skin. I would say if you have dry skin, you probably will not like this foundation because it is super matte. Also, if you are someone who isn’t used to full coverage foundations, this may not be for you either. I recommend this for anyone who is taking photos, video, loves their full on everyday glam or wants their foundation to last them all day. I also think the price is perfect for what you are getting. It is right in the middle of the foundation spectrum, not too expensive but not super affordable either.

Tarte Tartelette Palette | Review

Although I own tons of neutral eyeshadows when I saw Tarte’s Tartelette palette I was so drawn to it! I own one or two tarte palettes and I enjoy them alot so since everyone was raving about this one I decided to pick it up on a trip to Ulta.

I know, I know, better late than never, right?

Price: $44.00

Where can I purchase: Ulta.com, Sephora.com, Tartecosmetics.com, and anywhere else Tarte is sold.

Packaging: Tarte did such a great job with this palette’s packaging, I absolutely love it! It is so durable and comes with a huge mirror that is perfect when you are traveling. Also, the size of the palette itself is perfect to take it with you on the go.

Consistency: These eyeshadows like most of Tarte’s eyeshadows are very smooth but not powdery. They blend out perfectly and are packed with pigment.DSC03587

Overall Thoughts: This palette has become pretty much my every day go to palette. The colors are perfect for everyday use. I specifically love using these shadows for day time looks. They are the perfect combination of neutral colors and the consistency of the shadows makes it so easy to apply and to blend. I recommend this palette to anyone who doesn’t already own a neutral eyeshadow palette because it will definitely become your most used palette.

Do you own this palette? What are some other palettes you recommend?

First Impression | NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

Life has been so crazy lately, I have had no time to post on here and I do apologize. I really need to start making more of an effort.

I had recently purchased the NARS Sheer Glow foundation and was dying to try it. I saw so many people using it on Youtube and even my manager purchased it and her skin looked flawless!

I decided to show you guys my initial reaction of the foundation in the video:

Price: $49.00

Where Can I Purchase? Narscosmetics.com, Sephora.com, Ulta.com, and anywhere else that sells Nars products.

Nars Claims: “A glowing, natural radiant finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, Sheer Glow Foundation improves the skin’s brightness and texture.” – Narscosmetics.com

Packaging: Nars always has amazing packaging, like most of their items the black top has that velvet feel to it. The glass bottle is very luxurious. The only thing is that when opened, it does not have a pump which I don’t like because I feel like you end up using more product than needed.

Consistency: I found that this foundation is lightweight but it does have a little bit of tackiness to it when applied. It felt a little sticky until I set it with a powder. It didn’t feel heavy on the skin at all when applied.

Finish: The finish was in between matte and dewy. I did set it with a powder but I loved that it didn’t look too matte. It was the perfect in between foundation!

Overall: This has become one of my favorite foundations so far. I love that it gives me full coverage but looks so natural. It is a little sticky and can take a while for it to completely dry but other than that I absolutely love the finish. It isn’t completely matte but not too dewy either. It makes my skin look very healthy! I have definitely seen a difference in my skin since using this foundation but I cannot 100 percent attribute that to the actual foundation (because I have been switching up my skincare routine as well). I have noticed my skin looking brighter and definitely more soft and smooth. I would recommend this foundation to anyone who likes a full coverage foundation but wants it to look more natural and not so cakey.

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Artist Palette | Review

I am a sucker for fun eye shadow palettes. It is so rare for me to buy separate eye shadows because I can never decide what colors to purchase, so when I see that there is a new palette out with colors I don’t own I automatically have to have it. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Artist Palette was one of those. I waited a bit after it came out to purchase it because I wasn’t sure if the hype was real. When I went to swatch it at Ulta, I instantly fell in love! I had to have it!

– Now I know this is a limited edition palette so I do apologize if you can’t get your hands on it but it is still out for sale, I have seen it. So if you want it go get it soon before it sells out!IMG_3566

Price: $30.00

Where Can I Purchase: Ulta, Sephora.com (I checked the ABH website but they are sold out).

Anastasia Claims: “This limited-edition, fashion-forward eye shadow kit is the ultimate makeup artist’s palette. Twelve heavily-pigmented shades ranging from a neutral dusty rose to a dramatic emerald green—deliver smooth, intense color so you can create an endless array of looks.” – Anastasiabeverlyhills.com

IMG_3567

Packaging: The packaging is so fun and summery. It definitely does look artistic, hence the name of the palette. It has a magentic close just like all of her other palettes. For the most part it’s sturdy and it is small enough to travel with.

Consistency: The eye shadows are so soft and buttery but pigmented at the same time. Usually I find that eye shadows like these end up being chalky, but that was not the case with this palette.

IMG_3568

Overall Thoughts: If you’re looking for a fun summer palette that has a variety of colors definitely pick this one up. There aren’t many neutrals or crease colors, but there is a good variety of matte and shimmery shadows. I personally did not own any colors like the ones in this palette so for me it was definitely a good buy. The shadows aren’t unique per say, but if you’re like me and don’t own many loose shadows then you probably want a palette like this. They are pigmented but buttery and blend so easily! Also, many eye shadows crease on me and these don’t do it as much. I have been loving this palette this summer and I think you guys will enjoy it as well!

What are your favorite summer palettes? Do you own this one? thoughts?
