Lips of The Moment – Shades of Orange ♥

Although Summer is pretty much over and everyone is prepping for vampy lips and dark eyeshadow, I’m still stuck on my bright lipsticks. Orange is a color that I truly believe can be transitioned from Spring/Summer to Fall. Winter not so much. Since the days in New York are still a little warm I decided to show you guys my favorite Orange lippies! You still have time to rock this shade so feel free to make those lips stand out!

Lipsticks

Orange isn’t a color for everyone. It sort of falls into that drastic color box with purples, blacks, blue’s , and pretty much every other “different” lipstick color. I love to have fun with my lips so I decided to include different shades and pigmentations so that there’s something for everyone!

lips 1-91. Maybelline ColorSensational VividsElectric Orange : Definitely one of the truer more pigmented Oranges. This formula is amazing. Super creamy and glides right on. You do have to reapply throughout the day, but it does not dry out your lips.

2. NYX Butter LipsticksHot Tamale: Probably one of the truest Orange lipsticks you’ll ever find. Looks like an Orange Crayola straight out of the crayon box. Easy formula, Glides right on. Doesn’t stain the lips and is moisturizing.

3. YSL Rouge Pur Couture13: Super pigmented and moisturizing. Love the way it feels on my lips. Also very true Orange. You have to reapply with this one as well. Only thing I don’t like is this lipstick tends to feather so make sure you wear a lip liner with it.

4. Maybelline ColorSensational VividsVibrant Mandarin: This lipstick is more of a Reddish Orange. If you don’t really like stepping out of the box when it comes to lipstick colors but you want to stay on trend, this is probably one of the best fits for you. It definitely looks more Red than Orange but is clearly still Orange.

5. Revlon ColorBurst Matte BalmAudacious: First of all, let’s talk about my love for this product in general. It’s matte and the formulation is amazing! I also own the purple one and I love it. Although it’s matte, it feels amazing on the lips – not drying at all. The color isn’t as pigmented as I would love for it to be but it’s a very wearable Orange. Great for daytime!

6.  Too Faced Melted LipsticksMelted Coral: This is another matte lippie which is perfect for those of you who are not into the whole glossy lips thing. I have really dry lips 90% of my lifetime so for me, this lipstick is great when I pair it with a lipgloss, if not it’s not really my favorite. The color is very toned down so you can definitely get away with it during the day.

7. Wet ‘n Wild Megalast LipsticksPurty Persimmon – Umm, let’s talk about the price point for such an amazing product! I’m pretty sure I only paid $2 for this at the drugstore and sometimes they’re buy one get one 1/2 off. How amazing is that!? This is probably one of my most worn lipsticks because it lasts all day! The only two downfalls is that it is super drying on the lips and it also stains them. Other than that I totally recommend this lipstick, especially for the price point!

8. NYX Butter GlossCherry Cheesecake: I mean who doesn’t love NYX’ lip butter glosses? They’re a must have in anyone’s makeup collection! This is the perfect orange to wear either by itself or over a lipstick. It’s pigmented enough to wear alone but also light enough to wear on top of other Orange lipsticks.

9. Revlon Colorstay Moisture StainMiami Fever: This is a new product to me but so far I love the way it feels on my lips. The pigmentation is okay… I feel like it goes on very streaky but I love that it’s a bright Reddish Orange so it’s very wearable and can be daytime and night time appropriate.

So those are all of my favorite Orange lipsticks of the moment. I had a mixture of high end and drugstore which is amazing! I hope you guys found this post helpful when trying to choose an Orange lipstick. If you’ve tried any of these or have any other recommendations please leave them below.. We all know I love to try new products!

Black Lips & Neutral Eyes ♥

Black lipstick has been the new trend lately, besides the Kylie Jenner Nude Lip. I’ve been wanting to try this trend for a while but was a little hesitant since black lips is so difficult to make wearable. I’m pretty sure the last time I wore a Black lip was when I was about 10 years old for Halloween (I was a witch btw).

Anyway, I’m super happy with how it came out! I made sure to bronze my skin and contour perfectly so that my face didn’t look too flat. I wanted to keep the eyes neutral but still a little smokey to give it a nice exotic effect.

I hope you guys enjoy this look as much as I did filming this. I am seriously obsessed with how it came out so I really hope you guys love it just as much!

Travel with Jess | Chicago Weekend ♥

Two weekends ago, my boyfriend and I decided to take a mini-weekend trip to Chicago. My cousin and his girlfriend just had a baby boy and we decided this would be the perfect time to visit! While there,  we also decided to take advantage and visit a few tourist attractions.

Let me start by saying that Chicago is beautiful! – well at least where I went. The city was super clean and the people seemed friendly. Usually when I visit other places, I can feel the difference between New York and whatever other state I’m visiting, but with this trip, I felt right at home. Downtown Chicago looked like a cleaner version of New York City, and the area where we were staying at looked like a nicer version of upstate (Orange County, NOT Albany or above. For some reason when you say upstate NY, people think Albany or Buffalo)  New York, where I am from.

We drove all the way from New York, so it took us about 12 hours to get there. We left NY on Thursday night and arrived to Chicago on Friday morning, which was perfect timing.

Friday, we pretty much spent the day with my cousin and his family. We had an amazing breakfast made by his in-laws and then relaxed with the baby for a bit. For Dinner, we visited the restaurant Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria and had Chicago’s Deep Dish Pizza. It was my first time having Deep Dish Pizza and let me tell you – it was delicious! After Dinner, we decided to grab some dessert. We ended up having some Gelato, which for me was also a first time thing. Once again – delicious! After Dinner and Dessert, we headed home to relax.

Saturday we had another amazing breakfast, once again made by my cousin’s in-laws. After breakfast, we decided to head over to Downtown Chicago. This was the most touristy part of our trip. Our first stop once arriving to the city was Willis Tower – SkyDeck Chicago. Basically, you go all the way up Willis Tower (One of the largest buildings in the world, btw), learn a little bit about the building and Chicago itself, then once you’re at the top they have these little cubes that are made out of clear… glass? (picture yourself in a window box – if that makes sense) I can’t really describe it but I have photos below. Anyway,  once you step foot onto the clear platform your body goes into panic mode because it thinks you’re going to fall – but you’re not. You can see almost 50 miles into Chicago from SkyDeck. Seriously such an awesome experience!

After Skydeck, we headed over to Millenium Park which I would say is like the Central Park of Chicago (If you’re from NY, you know what I mean). There, we saw the Cloud Gate aka The Bean! I’m not too sure about the history behind this giant mirrored bean looking thing, but there were hundreds of people gathered around and of course, we took crazy amounts of photos too! After spending the day in Downtown Chicago, we decided to head home for a nice family dinner.

For dinner on Saturday, we actually had a home cooked meal made by my cousin’s in-laws. His father in law is German so he made us something called Snitzel, which is a German dish. I believe it is breaded chicken or something of the sorts. Anyway, once again – delicious! After dinner, we relaxed with the baby and the rest of the family.

Sunday was our last day there. We went to one of my cousin’s soccer games in the morning and then headed over to a nearby mall – which btw was huge and amazing! After walking around the mall for a little we then headed to an early dinner. After dinner we headed home to take a few naps and prepare for our drive back.

Overall, The weekend was fun-filled! I in particular got to try new things and was so impressed by them. I can’t wait to go back to the windy city at some point.

What are your go-to/must-see places in Chicago?

Day Time Summer Bronze Makeup ♥

Summer has finally arrived in full throttle here in NY and I love every second of it! During the warm summer months my favorite way of doing my makeup is light and of course bronzey (if that’s even a word).

I decided to team up with one of my fellow youtubers Shenece and give you guys a cute bronze summer makeup look. I used mostly Makeup Geek eye shadows, which are amazing! Seriously, if you haven’t tried their eyeshadows you need to! This is such an easy look to do, so I hope you guys enjoy it!
