Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation : Review ♥

When I think of Chanel the first thing that comes to mind is Glamour, Chic, Classic. I’ve heard so many great things about Chanel and their cosmetics line but the price point was a little scary for me. Finally, I decided to treat myself for my birthday and splurged on this foundation. I was also gifted a Chanel lipstick and lip liner! I felt like such a princess and couldn’t wait to go home and try it. I was originally going to film a first impressions video for it but I just couldn’t wait to use it.

After a few uses, I decided I had finally come to a conclusion about this foundation. Simply put – Amazing!

Chanel

Price: $57.00

Where Can You Purchase? Chanel.com, Nordstrom, Macy’s, & any other Chanel Counters.

Chanel Claims: “Effortless to apply, with seamless blendability for a naturally flawless effect, this breakthrough foundation is the ideal all-day, everyday formula – available in a diverse range of 20 shades.” – Chanel.com

Packaging: The bottle is so luxurious I absolutely love it. I keep it on the top of my vanity just because it looks so glamorous. It is packaged in a thick glass bottle and the best part – it has a pump! Foundations with pumps are my best friends so I’m super happy this one comes with one!

Consistency: Very Creamy but feels super light on the skin. I use a Beauty Blender to apply and it literally melts into my skin which is amazing. It does have a scent to it so if you are sensitive to that this may not be the foundation for you. The scent is very strong almost like perfume.

Coverage: this is more of a medium- full coverage foundation. I definitely think it can become cakey if not applied properly or if adding too much. Like mentioned before, I like to use my Beauty Blender with this foundation because I believe it helps the foundation spread evenly.

Finish: This foundation is definitely a matte finish, so if you have dry skin this may not be your favorite. I usually wear this for nighttime use since its full coverage and matte. I like to use it when I’m doing intense makeup looks. Definitely not good if you like a minimal natural finish.

Overall: I am obsessed with this foundation. I truly believe it lasts all day long and does not move at all. It gives flawless coverage just like Chanel claims. The only downfall is that it does have SPF in it and although it’s just a little bit it definitely gives a small white cast in photos. Also, The color range is more geared towards lighter skin tones so it was quite difficult to find the perfect match for me (I bought mine in the color 64 Beige Ambre). Not sure if girls with darker skin than me will be able to find the perfect match.

bareMinerals : BareSkin Foundation: Review ♥

This foundation has been the talk of the town lately, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it when it first came out. bareMinerals is a brand that I don’t really have much of in my makeup collection. When I first started using makeup, I wasn’t sure what to use, and this happened to be the easiest and most natural brand that I had heard of. As I became better and more in love with makeup, I branched out to try other brands and bareMinerals sort of fell to the side. I’m not a huge fan of powdered or “mineral” products because in my opinion, they don’t really last all day, therefore, bareMinerals was not my favorite.

On the other hand, I do love natural finishes and “no makeup, makeup” which lead me to the reason why I love this product so much. When I heard that bareMinerals, the best of the best for natural makeup, was coming out with a liquid foundation I automatically knew I had to get my hands on it, and of course, I did.

I can honestly say that this has been my go-to foundation for the summer, but I won’t spoil the rest of the details for you! Watch the video to see what my overall opinion of this foundation was 🙂

First Impression | Covergirl TruBlend Foundation ♥

It has been almost a whole month since I’ve posted anything on here and I sincerely apologize for that! I don’t like to give excuses for my actions but in all seriousness, I was sick for about a week and a half and then went on vacation (a cruise) for eight days, so that explains my absence. Thankfully, I am feeling better and I’m tan so we can get back to our regularly scheduled program!

This is actually the first time I’m doing a “First Impressions” video/post so bare with me. Since I went on vacation I ended up getting a tan and I am probably 2-3 shades darker than my normal skin color which is crazy! I haven’t been this tan since I was about 15 and lived in Florida (I used to lay out and tan almost everyday with my niece). Because of this gorgeous tan I’m rocking, none of my foundations match so I was walking around looking like Casper, which is never a good thing. My friend was telling me how she picked up this new foundation and was loving it so I decided, hey why not! I didn’t want to spend too much money on a foundation that would only be used 3-4 months out of the year so this was perfect!

* If you want to see how it applies and what it looks like on, check out the video. The rest of this post is more details on the actual product itself.

Covergirl Trueblend Foundation

Price: $8.99- $9.99 depending on where you buy it.

Where Can You Purchase: Rite Aid, Ulta, Wal-Mart, & most other drugstores.

Covergirl Claims: “truBLEND Liquid Makeup is available in 21 shades and features a new shade matching system. To find your perfect blend, first determine your shade family. Second, choose your number. Coordinate complementary truBLEND products based on your number for a seamlessly flawless nude look that blends in and virtually disappears.” – Covergirl.com

Consistency: In this area I definitely give this foundation an A+. It is meant to be a liquid foundation and it certainly is. Covergirl claims that this foundation will blend in and virtually disappears and it sure does. It literally feels like you have nothing on your face,  which for me is a plus. I have so many foundations that I love but feel so heavy on my face and this one doesn’t feel heavy at all, it is such a thin consistency that it really does melt right into your skin.

Coverage: I believe this is a medium to full coverage foundation. It’s such a thin consistency that you wouldn’t expect it to be full coverage but it is definitely buildable. I applied it with my Beauty Blender and it gave me medium coverage, I liked how it looked so I left it that way but I could’ve easily added another layer without it looking cakey.

Finish: Initially I thought this was a matte finish foundation but I had used a mattifying primer so that wasn’t very helpful. As I continued to try the foundation different ways I begain to realize it actually has a sheen to it. It’s not completely matte but not completely dewy either. If you set it, it will definitely look more matte but if you leave it alone it can give you a glowy/dewy type finish. I’m pretty sure if you were to apply it with a brush it would instantly give a more full coverage look, since the Beauty Blender is damp it tends to thin out foundations sometimes.

Overall Thoughts: Overall, I am really loving this foundation. It just looks so natural and feels so light on my skin. I love that I can either make it dewy or matte. Also, there is a pretty wide variety of colors so whether you have fair skin or dark skin you can most likely find your match. I truly believe this foundation is perfect for summer, as it has great coverage and is very light. If you haven’t tried it, I totally recommend it!

Mini Haul – Sephora & M.A.C ♥

Clearly I have a shopping problem or more like a makeup addiction. I’m going on vacation to California in a few days and realized I was running out of a few things, and in desperate need of other things, so I decided to take a quick trip to Sephora. This “quick” trip resulted in two trips to Sephora and one trip to M.A.C within a few days! I know, I know. Don’t judge me.

On my first trip to Sephora, I ended up getting strictly skincare products because I was seriously in desperate need of them. I don’t think I’ve ever actually splurged on good quality skincare products and honestly my skin as been paying for it. My face has been super dry lately and my pores have been horrendous, I just felt like it was in desperate need of some TLC.

On my second trip to Sephora, I went for one thing and one thing only. I was on the hunt for a new foundation and although it was difficult to keep my eyes from wandering, I remained focused and completed my task. haha.

of course, I did a great job on my second trip to Sephora but that did not stop me from entering M.A.C which happened to be right next to it. Now we all know M.A.C is probably every makeup lover’s weakness, so it is dangerous territory. I ran out of my concealer so I had to go in for more and of course I had to pick up a few other goodies while I was there. My bank account probably hates me right now but it was totally worth it!

Anyway, now that I’ve bored you with my rant I will show you what I got! (I know this is what you’ve been waiting for)

(1st picture ; from left to right.)

1. Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Oil Free Energizing Oxygen Gel Cream Moisturizer- Now that is a mouthful to say! I picked this moisturizer specifically because Casey (itsbl0ndie) from youtube uses it and raves about it so much. Gel moisturizers absorb quicker and easier into the skin so I figured it was good for someone with combination-dry skin. I have started using it and so far so good.

2. Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment- I think the name speaks for itself. I’ve probably said this a thousand times but my skin has been going from oily to dry to oily, so it’s been really difficult to determine exactly what skin type I have. I decided to get this because I generally have dehydrated dry skin which causes fine lines and wrinkles and that my friends is a huge NO. Not okay.

3. GlamGlow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment- I think the world is raving about these products right now therefore it was a must try. I love face masks in general and well, since everyone has been loving this brand so much i decided to get the sample version of it to see what all the hype is about! I will deff. let you guys know how I feel about it once I try it!

4. Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil Light –  I’ve used this product before and loved it. I had gotten a sample in my birch box a while back and I did enjoy it, so I decided to repurchase it but this time in the light version. The regular one can be a bit heavy but I find that this version is lightweight and deff. sinks into the skin quicker.

5. Philosophy Hope In A Jar Night- I’ve never actually used a night cream per say. I barely even wash my face before bed (I know, I know. That’s terrible!) but, my skin has really been in need of some extra love. I’m trying to stick to a strict skincare regimen so I figured if I bought a night time cream then it would give me a reason to wash my face at night. Let’s hope that idea works! (Fingers crossed!)

(2nd picture ; From left to right)

1. M.A.C Retro Matte Lipstick ( Relentlessly Red ) – One of my biggest addictions when it comes to M.A.C is their lipsticks. I truly believe that if anything, M.A.C has the best eyeshadows and lipsticks! I don’t own many because there isn’t a M.A.C store close to where I live, but when I do get to go there I try my best to pick up at least one! This color caught my eye because for one, I love anything red or bright or bold. It’s more of a watermelon red color, it applies super matter and I can’t wait to use it!

2. M.A.C Prolongwear Concealer (NW35) – I needed a new concealer. This is my holy grail concealer, I haven’t found anything as amazing as this. This color is the exact match to my actual skin color, I picked it up for days where I’m wearing natural looking makeup.

3. Makeup Forever HD Foundation- I’ve heard friends and Youtubers rave about this product forever now and I still have yet to try it. Once I like something it’s kind of hard for me to venture off, but since I ran out of pretty much all of my favorite foundations I decided to try something new. When I swatted it, it felt a little thick but I guess we shall see. I have high hopes for this foundation so I’m hoping it lives up to its hype and to my expectations.

4. M.A.C Prolongwear Concealer (NW30)- Although I usually always get this concealer in the shade NW35, I decided to also get one shade lighter so that I can use it as a highlight as well! ( Everyone loves the Kim.K highlight effect right? right.)

5. M.A.C Viva Glam Rihanna- I’m not a huge Rihanna fan per say, but when I heard she had a new Viva Glam lipstick I had to check it out! This lipstick is so creamy and the color is so beautiful, I can already tell it’s going to be one of my favorite reds.

Those are all of my recent purchases. Let’s hope I can stay put until IMATS so that I can get lots of goodies there! I swear this is a real addiction but I love it! What have been some of your recent purchases?
